Why I Added Kundalini Yoga to My Practice (and What It Means for You)

In 2023, I added something new to the way I work with clients: an ancient practice called Kundalini Yoga. If you’ve never heard of it, don’t worry… most people haven’t. I wanted to take a moment to share why it’s becoming such a powerful part of my approach and how it might support you, too.

It all started with a question: What else can I offer when talk therapy isn’t enough?

As a talk therapist, I’ve always believed in the power of insight, language, and connection. But over the years, I began noticing a pattern: Many of my clients were learning tools and gaining awareness, but still feeling stuck. Still dysregulated. Still anxious. Still disconnected from their bodies.

Especially for clients navigating trauma, anxiety, or addiction, it became clear that healing couldn’t be a mind-only journey. They needed a way back into their bodies—gently, safely, and with intention. That’s what led me to Kundalini.

Kundalini: A Breath-Based Practice for the Nervous System

I’m trained in Polyvagal Theory, so I’ve long understood the importance of the vagus nerve in nervous system regulation. But Kundalini gave me a practical way to go beyond theory and work with the body in a natural, structured, and deeply spiritual way.

I often describe Kundalini as a sequence of breathwork practices designed to impact your nervous system. It’s not about performance or perfection. It’s about tuning in—to yourself, your energy, your breath—and learning how to regulate from the inside out. And for many of my clients, it’s made all the difference.

For Clients Who Feel Stuck or Overwhelmed

I’ve found Kundalini especially helpful for clients who:

  • Have made progress with talk therapy but still feel unsteady in their bodies

  • Crave a sense of control over their anxiety or emotional states

  • Are in recovery or navigating addiction and looking for natural tools

  • Want to try holistic options before considering medication

This isn’t a replacement for therapy—it’s a deepening of the work.

Creating Ritual Through Kosmik Mind

This journey has also brought something (and someone) beautiful into my world—Kosmik Mind Kundalini + Cacao.

I’ve teamed up with Mykel Brotzman (CYT-200) to offer a monthly experience that blends Kundalini Kriya + Meditation with Holy Wow Cacao, a sacred plant medicine grown and prepared with loving care in Guatemala. Mykel brings the cacao, I guide the Kundalini, and together we create space for intention, heart-opening, and nervous system healing in community.

Cacao is more than a drink—it’s a way to slow down, drop in, and connect. It brings ritual back into healing in a way that’s gentle, expansive, and meaningful.

An Invitation to You

If you're curious about this work, you’re not alone. I’ve had so many people tell me, “I didn’t know something like this existed… but I’ve been needing it.” So consider this your invitation.

If you’re feeling anxious, disconnected, or simply ready for something different, I’d love for you to join us at our next Kosmik Mind event. I’ll include a link here where you can learn more.

We’re building something heart-led, honest, and deeply healing—and if you feel drawn to it, it might be meant for you.

In gratitude,
Ashley
